      • Surface finish standard (part number of GB\/T 5237 if architectural)<\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/li>

                      • GB<\/strong> \u2013 mandatory<\/strong> national standard.<\/p><\/li>

                          3. System-Level Differences (BS vs GB \/ GB-T)<\/h2>

                          3.1 Standard System and Legal Role<\/h3>

                          • BS system<\/strong><\/p>

                            • Managed by BSI, but many are BS EN<\/strong> or BS EN ISO<\/strong>, aligned with EU\/ISO.<\/p><\/li>

                            • Often used to support CE \/ UKCA<\/strong> and European-style conformity.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/li>

                            • GB system<\/strong><\/p>

                              • Managed as part of China\u2019s national standardization framework.<\/p><\/li>

                                Bottom line:<\/strong>
                                BS = UK\/European-oriented system.
                                GB = Chinese national system, tightly coupled to Chinese regulations.<\/p>

                                3.2 Relationship to ISO \/ EN<\/h3>

                                • BS<\/strong><\/p>

                                  • Many BS standards are identical adoptions<\/strong> of EN or ISO (e.g. BS EN 755, BS EN ISO 9001).<\/p><\/li>

                                  • Technical content is usually the same as the EN\/ISO parent.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/li>

                                  • GB \/ GB-T<\/strong><\/p>

                                    • Can be:<\/p>

                                      1. Identical adoption<\/strong> of ISO.<\/p><\/li>

                                      2. Modified adoption<\/strong> (based on ISO but adjusted).<\/p><\/li>

                                        So \u201csame topic\u201d does not guarantee \u201csame content\u201d<\/strong> between BS and GB\/T.<\/p>

                                        3.3 Technical Content and Design Philosophy<\/h3>

                                        Even on the same product type (for example aluminium extrusions), BS EN and GB\/GB-T can differ in:<\/p>

                                        1. Scope<\/strong><\/p>

                                          • BS EN 755 covers wrought aluminium products (bars, profiles, tubes).<\/p><\/li>

                                          • GB\/T 6892 covers aluminium extruded profiles for general engineering.
                                            The coverage and limitations are not necessarily identical.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/li>

                                          • Alloy designation and chemistry<\/strong><\/p>

                                            • BS side: EN\/ISO alloy system (e.g. EN AW-6063), with composition in EN 573.<\/p><\/li>

                                            • GB side: Chinese alloy system linked to GB\/T 3190<\/strong> (6063, 6061 etc.), with possibly different composition ranges.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/li>

                                            • Mechanical properties<\/strong><\/p>

                                              • Minimum yield, tensile strength and elongation values can differ.<\/p><\/li>

                                              • Requirements may depend on direction (longitudinal \/ transverse) in different ways.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/li>

                                              • Dimensional tolerances<\/strong><\/p>

                                                • BS EN uses its own tolerance system (e.g. EN 755-9 for profiles).<\/p><\/li>

                                                • GB\/GB-T has its own tolerances for dimensions, straightness, twist, etc.

                                                                Important:<\/strong>
                                                                Even if the alloy name looks the same (\u201c6063-T6\u201d), the exact mechanical properties, tolerances and test requirements<\/strong> in BS EN vs GB\/T may not match.<\/p>

                                                                5. Practical Tips When Converting Between BS and GB\/T<\/h2>

                                                                1. Never assume \u201cequivalent\u201d without checking.<\/strong>
                                                                  Do not simply write \u201cBS XXX = GB\/T YYY\u201d unless the standard clearly says it is an identical adoption.
                                                                  Otherwise, treat them as similar but not automatically equivalent<\/strong>.<\/p><\/li>

                                                                2. When comparing, always check at least:<\/strong><\/p>

                                                                  • Scope (what products \/ conditions are covered).<\/p><\/li>

                                                                  • Alloy \/ material definitions and chemistry.<\/p><\/li>

                                                                    If you must accept both, you can state that properties and tolerances must not be lower than<\/strong> the chosen reference (e.g. the BS EN requirements).<\/p><\/li>

                                                                  • Check certification format.<\/strong><\/p>

                                                                    • BS \/ EN often uses EN 10204<\/strong> (2.2 \/ 3.1 certificates).<\/p><\/li>

                                                                    • GB may use \u201cmaterial certificate \/ quality certificate\u201d with similar content but different format.<\/p><\/li>

                                                                    • If needed, require that the GB-side certificate contains the same key data<\/strong> as an EN 10204 3.1 certificate.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>
